4BETTER QUALITY THAN EXPECTED
By MichaleCS
Bought this Luna at a bargain store so I wasn't expecting much but the quality was surprising. It's not a roaring 5 stars but it has given me several months of heavy dependable use and still looks as nice as the day I bought it.13 Outstanding Pros That Please Me:Compact footprint for a large capacity kettleShiny black exterior looks niceLarge opening allows easy access for interior cleaning and fillingHandle does not interfere with cleaning and fillingRounded enameled bottom interior has no seams to harbor moistureRounded enameled bottom exterior is the same shiny black finish as the top--it is all one continuous smooth finishHas very few stainless parts like the lid, and lid rim of kettle that lid rests on, and the whistle mechanismStainless metal parts stay shiny and do not discolor or rust after several months of heavy useEnamel-on-steel finish inside, outside and bottom is durable and has shown no flaking, cracking, or discoloringThere is a small plastic knob to touch-open the hot pour spout plus it will stay in the open position for pouringComfortably-sized firm round raised knob on lidWhistle is a pleasant sound and not piercing to the ear plus it has a fairly good spring-load fitDesigned for use on a smaller burner with a somewhat higher flame to generate a good steam for a steady whistle8 Minor Annoyances But Not Enough To Deter Luna's Longevity Or Performance:If filled to capacity Luna is heavy to lift and pour so maybe use it half-filled for easier handlingIf filled to capacity it is better for arthritics to use two hands to pour the first cupTo hear a good whistle the capacity should not be filled more than half--a maximum fill won't whistle its bestMust take care to push on the whistle spout to make sure it has a firm closure or whistle might be inaudibleLid is easier to pull off when cold but is still very stiff to removeStainless rim of the kettle that lid sits on is wiggling loose because of the stress/removal of a tight-fitted lidHandle is a nice design as far as access for cleaning and filling goes but it is not sturdy or thick enough for such a large capacity kettle and has to be tightened too frequently IMOHandle gets slightly hot (not dangerously hot but a bit uncomfortable sometimes to touch) so manufacturing a rubberized grip on a thicker handle would helpSuggestion: As with most boiled kettles a hot Luna should cool down for a minute or two to avoid a sputtering pourConclusion:The Luna is a good kettle for the price we paid for it at discount but I wouldn't pay full price for it because of it's main flaw. The handle troubles me because of the few times I've had to re-tighten it. Such a decent kettle of this capacity should really have been made with a thicker, sturdier, more secured handle. Even in the photo the handle appears too thin and dwarfed by the kettle it sits on. After the first couple of re-tightenings we began using the kettle at half capacity to put less weighted stress on the handle. This has eliminated re-tightenings which further confirms IMO that the handle can't operate the full load capacity of the kettle.

5Best teakettle I've had
By Peter
I don't really close the whistling part much, so can't speak to other reviewer's complaint. Otherwise:* The handle is very easy to hold, and great placement for pouring* Easy to open for filling or cleaning* Looks greatIt was a steal at $15 from Amazon, not sure about $40 from this other seller.

3Beautiful, but difficult to open
By Goldie
We love the beautiful looks of this teakettle. The "footprint" is sized to fit on the small burner, which can be an advantage in using less energy. But the flip pour-top is very difficult to open. It's almost impossible to hold the handle and press the pour-top open with the same hand. The amount of pressure one must exert to flip the top makes it very hard for someone with arthritis, or for anyone to safely open the top without upsetting the kettle or brushing against the side.
